The year of the pandemic undoubtedly changed many things, one of them being the way we all dress in the new normal. This shift in day-to-day fashion is what inspired Singapore-based menswear brand Tropick to launch their new “Lounger Line” on July 16, 2021.
The line was designed to reinvent loungewear and bring up the sophistication of the overall look to be more appropriate for day to day hanging around, Zoom calls, casual errands and the like. The Lounger line consists of a matching navy polo top and drawstring short, reworked in velvety yet breathable garment-dyed stretchy cotton towelling with fun, high-quality finishings for a luxe approach to off-duty dressing. Made from 100% cotton, the wearer can stylishly relax or brave the heat and humidity of the tropics, comfortably.
The Lounger top and short each retail at $125 a piece and can be bought separately at whatever size suits the wearer from an inclusive range of Small through XX Large. The top features a soft to the touch ribbed collar and a chic, white sport quarter zip finished off with a rubber dipped zipper pull. The drawstring short features a thick, flattering waistband, a rubber dipped tie, and 3 pockets. Luxe touches like the Tropick tree icon embroidery and the extra thick hems serve as a reminder that no detail was forgotten in the making of each garment. Keeping the environment in mind, each piece ships waste-free in a reusable Tropick-branded travel bag and biodegradable mailer.
Tropick’s long term vision is to do business better, and drops new designs one at a time in limited quantities to preserve resources and avoid waste. Their mission is to create a wardrobe of sophisticated staples, bringing to market versatile pieces their online community has a genuine need for. By shifting the focus from temporary trends to enduring essentials, the brand encourages buying more responsibly and wearing more consciously (and comfortably).
“We have seen huge demand for more elevated casual clothes, and men’s loungewear sets have always been our biggest request from our customer base. It’s extremely interesting because if you search the internet for anything similar, pretty much all you can find is beach wear matching sets, men’s pajamas or sweats. It’s hard to find anything like what we are making right now,” says the brand’s founder, Monica Millington. “Our customer drives our decisions on what we make, and this new Lounger Line is a testament to how we are doing business differently and listening closely to our community.”
Tropick will be available to shop direct online at tropick.com, and on VPlabel, an online platform by the news outlet, Vulcan Post bringing together the best available lifestyle products made by Singapore based brands. The line will be available to shop in person later this month at Whytespace, a curated art-like gallery that brings boutique online retailers together in person for a feature showcase without superfluous distractions. The brand has also partnered with Pixibo and is utilizing their newly launched Try Before You Buy programme where customers can opt to have their Tropick online order delivered to their house where they can try it on before deciding to purchase.
